Even if your website hosting company says they are performing backups of your website, it is an Internet Marketing Best Practice to have your own backup and disaster recovery system in place.

Hostgator, GoDaddy, Network Solutions, and other hosting companies may tell you they back up your website, but don’t be shocked to find out that in the event of a disaster your website cannot be restored successfully, or in a timely manner, using their backup system.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen this happen too many times.

Review your hosting company’s terms of service and you’ll find you have very little recourse.
