There are many benefits to search engine optimization, let’s start with three.
First, millions of people use Google to search every day. And while it would be foolish to downplay the importance of social media in your overall marketing and branding strategy, most people don’t go to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Pinterest when looking for a car battery, a DJ for their wedding, a plumber, window replacement, or a local yoga studio – they go to Google.
Secondly, when people search THEY WILL find something they were looking for. Google will make sure of that. Part of Google’s popularity and success is that it is a trusted source by virtually everyone.
Here’s the problem. If your website doesn’t show up on a search engine results page (SERP) a competitor’s website FOR SURE will.
Most people don’t think of it that way, but it is a fact – you are losing sales to a competitor who is doing search engine optimization (SEO) if you are not.
Third. Traffic to your website from Google is almost always very high-quality traffic and likely to convert.
Think about it. Someone was looking for something, they searched at Google, your website came up in the results, and they clicked through to your website.
If your website does the job it should (unfortunately many do not), that website visitor should convert into an inquiry, newsletter subscription, or in the case of an eCommerce site, an online sale!
