Social media is a great way to create company and brand awareness. I also have used it successfully as a traffic building strategy for my client’s websites.
There are a lot of social media channels to choose from and depending on your audience one may work better than another.
But generally speaking, I recommend that businesses pick two channels and use them very well.
Very well means that your social profile (description) is properly optimized and that you post interesting, informative, and engaging information consistently.
It takes time to build a successful social channel, months, even years – so don’t get discouraged. If you have the resources, add a third or fourth social channel to your Internet marketing plan.
“A journey of 1000 miles starts with a single step.”
“It’s not who you know, it’s who knows you!”
Every audience is different. The idea is don’t try to “boil the ocean.” Start small, post consistently, and use social media best practices. If you have the resources, add another social channel.
Action:
Pick two social channels and use them very well.
Post consistently, at least 3 days a week, preferrably every day.
Include links back to your website in the majority of your posts.
Measure the effectiveness of your social media efforts using tools like Facebook Insights and Instagram analytics.
Social media tools like Hootsuite and SmarterQueue also have built-in analytics.
