It’s an Internet Marketing Best Practice to use responsive website design but you also want to design your email newsletters to be responsive.

Responsive means that the look and feel and functionality of your website, or newsletter in this case, “responds” and renders properly on the device your visitor is using.

It could be a desktop computer, laptop computer, smartphone, or tablet.

These days 60% or more of your website traffic is likely coming from a smartphone or tablet. It’s important that you provide your website visitor with the proper visiting experience. If they must squint their eyes or “tweeze” their screen with two fingers on their smartphone you are in trouble.

The same principle for website design, responsiveness, applies to your email newsletters.

Email newsletters that arrive on someone’s smartphone and can’t be easily read are more likely to be immediately deleted. Email newsletters that arrive on someone’s smartphone and can’t be easily read adversely impact CONVERSION.

Action

Before you send out your next email newsletter make sure that it is designed to be responsive. It may require you redesigning your newsletter using a responsive template (i.e. Mailchimp or Constant Contact).
